Follow-up Audits
Follow up audit is usually performed in every audit case subsequent to the issuance of audit report and hence, it is an integral part of post audit phase. It is indeed an action taken to strengthen the weak areas of an organization.
The Follow-up audit is a process by which the internal auditors examine whether the corrective actions taken by the management are satisfactory, effective and prompt. By conducting a follow-up audit, the auditors responsible for the preparation of the audit report ensure that recommendations and corrective actions which were proposed in the report are implemented. In case of a failure on the part of the management to implement the actions, the auditor has the authority to ask them the reasons for inaction and appropriate alternatives to be implemented. Once the auditor reviews the evidence of the actions taken by the management, the audit report is officially closed and the follow-up report is issued.
